Flower arrangement (Ikebana) is a traditional Japanese art called Kado and originally related to religious ceremonies. When a tea ceremony became popular in the 16th century, it was started to accept at a tea room as one of entartaining to welcome guests. There are 3 main sects in Japan now such as Ikenobo, Ohara and Sogetsu. A flower vase is used for a flower arrangement and there are lots of shapes, materials and designs to choose from.
