Item description : Kenpon Kakejiku with Waka (Japanese poem) made by Michizane Sugawara who was the God of Dazaifu tenmangu Shrine. He was a high-ranking government officer but demoted by the slander and political chicanery of his rivals, the Fujiwara clan from Kyoto to Dazaifu, Fukuoka. He was very much depressed and made this poem for the Ume in his housein Kyoto when he left there with sadness. It says "Listen to me. I will leave here Kyoto and probably cannot come back for good. However, please send your fragrance to me in Dazaifu when Spring wind blows and never forget Spring."

Age : 1990's
Condition : Excellent for age. There is a stain seen on the surface as shown.
